Mrs R. E. Jennings Dies After Long Illness

Mrs Phebie Jennings aged 59, wife of Roland E. Jennings, died in a hospital at Searcy, Saturday morning, Apr 7, 1945. Her death was not unexpected as she had been critically ill for several weeks. She underwent a major operation at the Searcy hospital about a month ago.

Mrs Jennings was born and reared in this section and had been a resident of the Pleasant Valley community since her marriage in 1908. She was a devout Christian, showing untiring interest in every part of church work. She united with the Church of Christ at the age of 16.

Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs Goldie Scribner, Wheeling, Ark., Mrs Essie Marchant, Vallejo, Calif., Mrs Lillian McKinney, Shelburn, Ind., and Mrs Imogene Wayland, Calico Rock; four sons, Troy of Ozark, Ark., Harlan and J. R. of Calico Rock and Pvt Merle Jennings of Hunter Field, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs Bettie Harris of Calico Rock and Mrs Frankie Bunch of Tulsa, Okla., and three brothers, Wm. Thompson of Oildale, Calif., Noah Thompson of Kansas City, Mo., and Huey Thompson of Harrison, Ark.

Funeral Services in charge of Elder T. H. Sherrill, of Searcy, were held Sunday afternoon at the Church of Christ at this place. Burial was in Rose Lawn cemetery, the McGuire Funeral Home being in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were: E. C. Rodman, Roy Perryman, Hale Garner, Dr. Noel Copp, Cecil Brumitt and Theo. Garner.
