JOHN WESLEY BECKETT, 82, of Newfield, died Saturday at his home after a brief illness.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Newfield, Mr. Beckett was a graduate of Vineland High School.
He was employed as a machine operator of the Owens Illinois Glass Co., Kimball Division for 25 years, having retired in 1970. Mr. Beckett formerly owned the first taxicab service in Newfield.
Surviving are two sons, Wesley John of Malaga, and Russell William of Vineland; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pancoast Funeral Home, Vineland, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Newfield.
