Jabez and Fannie Rayle, husband and wife, were both laid to rest, Monday Dec 21.
Jabez Rayle was born in North Carolina, Nov. 12, 1820, died at his home near Bloomingdale, Dec 20, after an illness of only nine days, aged 71 years, 1 month, 1 day.
Jabez Rayle and Fannie Finney were united in marriage Aug 18, 1850, and travelled the journey of life together for forty-one years, and were buried in one grave in the Linebarger cemetery. In life they were undivided, in death they were not parted. They were fond parents of seven children, four sons and three daughters, all of whom are living, and now mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent father and a tender, devoted mother. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Rev R.H Biddle, assisted by Rev George Linebarger.
All the children were not permitted to be at the funeral, and but two to be present at their mother's death. The others being in the West were unable to reach home until after death had gathered the long standing corn. But they are resigned to the divine will and feel that God knew best. Rev R.H. Biddle
