JOSEPH D. ANDERSON.
Joseph D. Anderson, son of Jas. and Jusha Anderson, was born in Marquette, O., September 21, 1845, and passed away October 30, aged 80 years, one month and nine days. In 1862, at the age of 18, he was mustered into the United States army, Company E 19th Michigan Infantry, at Sturgis, and in June, 1865, he was mustered out in Washington, D, C., serving three years in the Civil war. March 26, 1868, he was united in marriage to Rachel Stillwell, in Galesburg. To this union eight children were born, three dying in early life. Those surviving are three sons and two daughters, Jas. F. of Nebraska, Geo. D., of Otsego, at whose home the father spent is last days, Arthur P., of Comstock, Mrs. Julie E. Brooker, of Kalamazoo, and Mrs. Pearl Crone, of Comstock. There remains to mourn, a. widow, the five children, 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Mr. Anderson, with the exception of 10 years in Illinois, spent life in Michigan, residing in branch, St. Joseph, Kalamazoo and Allegan counties. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. H, Bancroft, and burial was made in Mountain Home cemetery.
