The Muncie Star, Saturday, Dec. 15, 1973, page 2
Two young Muncie brothers and their brother-in-law were killed early Friday in a two-car crash on Ind. 3, about a mile south of Eaton.
Pronounced dead at the scene of multiple injuries by Delaware County Coroner Rodney Qualkinbush were Ricky J. Lynn, 23, and Ronald L. Lynn, 18, both of 5809 Kilgore Ave., and Billy W. Fording, 25, 2721 S. Franklin St.
State police said Fording was driving the car in which the victims were riding. The other driver, Albert W. Reese, 45, Hartford City, was reported in serious condition at Ball Hospital.
According to the police report, Fording's southbound auto went off the right side of the road onto the berm, possibly because of an oncoming vehicle in the wrong lane, and skidded broadside back across the pavement before colliding with the Reese car. The mishap occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Muncie firemen had to remove the victims from the car while Eaton firemen stood by because of gasoline spilled on the highway.
Ronald was born in Columbus, Ohio, and was a senior at Yorktown High School. He worked part-time at the White Flash Service Station, 5600 Kilgore Ave.
Survivors include his parents, Joseph E. and Ruth Miller Lynn; a sister, Debra Sharon Lynn; three brothers, Gary, Bobby, and Dewayne Lynn, all of Muncie; the grandparents, Mrs. Ethel Miller, Louden, Tenn, and James M. Lynn, Tellico Plains, Tenn; two nieces, Loretta Kay and Angela Diane Lynn; and his sister-in-law, Mary Elaine Lynn.
Joint services for the three victims will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meeks Mortuary with burial following in Gardens of Memory. Calling will be from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and prior to the services Tuesday.
