William H. Perrin, 89, of 1506 Ferry street, former merchant and banker, and member of a family prominently identified for many years with community development, died at the Home hospital Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock. He had been ill since Tuesday. William Henry Perrin, son of James J. and Margaret Cason Perrin. was born in Rossville June 2, 1855, and came here when a. boy with his parents, his father embarking in the banking business in Lafayette in 1899, founding several banks which grew into the Indiana National bank, then the Perrin National and eventually what Is now the First Merchants' National bank. The elder Perrin also founded the Lafayette public library and laid out the Perrin addition. William H. Perrin was for years a member of Perrin Bros., hardware dealers, now the Moore and Kemple establishment. He was later cashier of the Perrin bank and then vice-president of the Merchants' National. More recently he served as secretary-superintendent of Greenbush cemetery. He was an elder of Central Presbyterian church and active in the old Lincoln club, republican organization of this city.
He was married Sept. 9, 1879, to Mary Emma Weaver, member of a noted pioneer family, the marriage taking place in the old Weaver home that stood on where the Columbia apartment house now stands at Seventh and Columbia streets. A wedding present to the couple from Mrs. Perrin's father was the home at 1506 Ferry street, where they had lived for 65 years.

Besides the widow, Mr. Perrin. leaves one daughter. Mrs. William W. Ragsdale, of Brielle, N. J., and Franklin, Ind., and a son, William Weaver Perrin, of Atlanta, Ga. Friends may call at the Brad-shaw funeral home after 4 Friday afternoon. Funeral at Central Presbyterian church Saturday at 2:30 p. m., Dr. W. R. Graham officiating.
