Mrs. Elizabeth Wimsatt Dead
Mrs. Elizabeth Wimsatt, daughter of Ansel and Sarah Ann Collins, was born January 2, 1855, and died May 4th 1920 at her home near Adrian, Missouri: aged 65 years, 4 months and 2 days. Mrs. Wimsatt was reared on a farm in Jackson County, MO., the farm now being part of Kansas City. She was united in marriage with Arland Wimsatt in March 1881. To this union three children were born, on daughter and two sons, two children preceded her in death; one son, John Collns Wimsatt survives. One brother Jefferson D Collins, and three sisters, Mrs. Ann E Greenwood, Mrs. Minerva Clemons, and Mrs. Rebecca King, all of Kansas City, and four grandchildren survive her. Mrs. Wimsatt was converted at the age of seventeen years and united with the Methodist Church South and lived in that faith until the end of her life. The Wimsatt family moved to Bates County twenty-nine years ago and located on the farm where she died. During all these years she proved a good neighbor and a true friend and was held in high esteem of all who knew her. Her son and family and near relatives have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in this bereavement. Funeral services were held from the home of her son Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. W.S.Weir. Burial was made in the family lot in the Crescent Hill Cemetery.
