JAMES V. Cantlin Dead.
James V. Cantlin died at Alcova on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 1, at about 4:30 o'clock, after suffering for about three weeks from a stroke of paralysis. His death was unexpected; a week ago it was reported that his condition was much improved, and he was able to sit up in a chair, but last Saturday a change for the worse came, and on Sunday no hopes were entertained for his recovery.
The body will be brought to Casper Wednesday evening, and interment will be made in Highland Cemetery on Thursday afternoon. The funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock by the Masons of this city, at Odd Fellows hall, which will be open to the public.
James V. Cantlin would have been 60 years of age the 12th of Dec. He came to Rawlins, Wyo., from Nebraska about thirty-seven years ago. He was a prominent stock raiser and ranchman of Carbon county for about twenty-five years. He came to Natrona about twelve years ago, and has made this county his home ever since. Seven years ago he was mayor of Casper, and at the time of his death he was conducting a hotel at Alcova. He was a member of the Blue lodge Masons, Royal Arch, Knights Templar and Noble Order of the Mystic Shrine. He was the father of four living children, Mrs. Cora Beaton, Mrs. Eva Hemingway, Errol, and a young son, James, who is a little over one year of age. Seven years ago he was married to Miss Fortune Dickie, his first wife dying about 11 years ago.
The deceased was very popular with all who knew him, and his many friends join with the Tribune in extending to his bereaved wife and children their most heartfelt sympathy in their great loss.
