She was a member of the Hubert United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the choir. Mrs. Davis was a volunteer for Ogeechee Area Hospice, the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association. She was a member of the Arcola Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Davis received a Deen Day Smith Service to Mankind Award in 1989. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed many hobbies including painting, sewing and gardening. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by a grandson, James Davis III; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Davis.
Surviving are her husband, James E. Davis of Bulloch County; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jim and Janice Davis of Statesboro, Ray Davis and Ted and Margie Davis of Bulloch County and Don E. and Susan Davis of Kennesaw; eight grandchildren, Jincey M. Davis, Mitchell B. Davis, Donnie E. Davis Jr., Kelly B. Davis, Keith B. Davis, Nikki Davis, DeAnna Davis and Ashley Davis; two step-grandchildren, Nathan Schreer and Sammy Schreer; a brother and sister-in-law, Rawdon L. and Carolyn Akins of Statesboro; an uncle, Lloyd Motes of Metter; and a brother-in-law, John W. Davis of Columbia, S.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be Saturday in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. RIck Turner officiating, assisted by the Rev. Anna Kelly. Interment will be in the Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
