Eloise was born on Aug. 17, 1929, in Midland, to the late Gordon and Frances (MacFarlane) Malecha. Then on Sept. 15, 1945, she married her sweetheart, John Houvener in Bay City. Eloise was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Eastern Stars Chapter 121. Eloise was president of the study club of the First United Methodist of St. Charles. She was a life member of the Mid Michigan Bowman and a member of Saginaw Field and Stream Club. Eloise had been a volunteer at the Chippewa Nature Center and Senior Services, where she was awarded the Volunteer of the Month.
Eloise is survived by her loving husband, John; her daughters, Julia (Eugene) Pomranky, Janine "Lynn" Hughs and her husband Martin Hager and June VanParis; her sons, John Jr. (Gerri) and James G. (Sheila); 15 grandchildren; and 18 great- grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2009, 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Brent L. McCumons officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
