Both of James' parents passed before he was eighteen and James was raised in foster care in the Chicago area. At eighteen, he came back to Georgia to live in Mountain View with his aunt and uncle, George and Thelma Biddle. Thelma was his mom's sister.
James married Lisa Martin in May 1984. They had their first child, a little girl, in December 1987. She was named Cheryl after his baby sister who had passed away. In January 1990, James Jr. arrived, and then April 1992, Joshua arrived.
James was diagnosed with kidney failure in the late 1990's and took dialysis treaments for several years. He passed away on August 4, 2006. He was loved and is missed by his wife, three children, sister, and other friends and relatives.
