CASCADE, Iowa - Harriet R. Curtis, 69, of 1004 Fifth Ave. SE, Cascade, died at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, June 6, 2004, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, rural Bernard, with the Rev. David Ambrosy and the Rev. Thomas Bisenius officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1935, in Dubuque, daughter of Mark and Rose (McFarland) Anglin. She received her education at the former St. Joseph's Academy, Dubuque, and was a graduate of the former Dubuque Beauty Academy.

She married Ronald Curtis on Oct. 13, 1956, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on June 13, 1981. The couple farmed all their lives in the Bernard area.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Garryowen, and its Rosary Society. Harriet enjoyed farming and being a homemaker. She also enjoyed playing cards.

Surviving are two daughters, Connie (Loras) Staner and Julie (Dan) Finn, both of Cascade; three sons, Mike (Jayne) Curtis, of Epworth, Mark Curtis, of Cascade, and Bill (Angie) Ferguson Curtis, of Bernard; 10 grandchildren, Kevin and Eric Finn, Angie, Kristi, Brad and Brian Staner, Jason, Justin and Jaydee Curtis and Jacob Ferguson; a great-grandson, Kaden Finn; two sisters, Jeanette (Dan) Lanser, of Dubuque, and Shirley (George) Pins, of Dyersville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Patricia Anglin, Charlene Herrig, LaVerne (Marie) Ambrosy and Eleanor Curtis, all of Dubuque, Allen (Helen) Curtis, of Davenport, and Larry (Pat) Curtis, of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Mark Anglin; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim Curtis, John Curtis, Gary Curtis, Florian Herrig and Ben and Bernadine Manemann.

A Harriet R. Curtis Memorial Fund has been established.
