Cecil "Cec" Vernon Armintrout, of Amherst, died Friday, September 17, 2010, at the age of 85.

Cec was born on August 27, 1925, in Menard County, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Cauline "Peggy" Armintrout.

He is survived by his children, Joe Armintrout of Merritt Island, Florida, Teresa Hrabe and her husband, Bill, of Alexandria, "Maggie" Diane Stack of Ashburn, and Babs Rountree and her husband, Bailey, of Smithfield. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brian, Jennifer, Kim, April, Kenny, and Julie; and his six great- grandchildren.

He was a United States Air Force and Army Veteran and retired from the United States Defense Intelligence Agency as a Communication Manager in 1980.

Cec elected to donate his body for medical research.

Graveside services were conducted at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Centra Hospice of the Hills, 3300 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503; the American Cancer Society ; or the Salvation Army, 2301 Park Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503.
