WEST POINT - James W. "J.W." Pinkerton, 78, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. He was born May 17, 1930, in West Point to Bertha Wiley and Valcus Pinkerton. He was an equipment operator for Clay County and was also a farmer for 60 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point. He was married to Joyce Allene Roberts Pinkerton, who died Aug. 26, 1992.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery in West Point with Luke Lummus officiating. Friends and family will gather Thursday at the funeral home for a procession to the cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Mara Lynn Pinkerton Horner (Tim) and Libby Pinkerton, both of West Point; one son, Jay Pinkerton (Barbara) of West Point; three grandchildren, Lee Horner, Brianna Horner and William Pinkerton.

Pallbearers will be Lee Horner, Hiram Millsaps, Ted Berry, Nelson Koehn, Perry Davis, Howard C. Boyd, Brian Griggs and Todd Glusencamp.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Andrew Wartak, William Pinkerton, and all of his friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
