Funeral Services for Arlene J. Gidel, 84 of Tayor Ridge, will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Edgington Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 4 to 6 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to Edgington Presbyterian Church or to Avonlea Cottage.

Arlene died on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Avonlea Cottage, Milan.

Arlene Joy Baker was born on April 26, 1926 in Viola, Illinois to Hale & Lillie (Carlson) Baker. She was united in marriage Richard Gidel. He preceded her in death.

Arlene enjoyed the outdoors, especially farming with her husband on the family farm near Edgington. She also enjoyed hunting, especially with her hunting dog, "Doc". Arlene loved caring for her many pets, especially her dogs. She was a devoted member of the Edgington Presbyterian Church. She retired from Rock Island Farmall.

Arlene is survived by several nieces and nephews: Gary & Judy Baker, Jerry & Ella Mae Baker and Mark & Lisa Baker, all of Aledo and Gloria Bewley & Terry Jones of Avon and all of their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Lloyd and Jack Baker and a nephew, Bill Baker.
