Mrs. Sarah A. Parker died Saturday at Oak Creek, funeral services being held at the Hosking parlors by Rev. Sullivan Monday afternoon. Mrs. Parker was born December 11, 1848 at Flatrock, Ill and came to Routt county about 30 years ago. She is survived by one son [Joseph] Hiram Parker of Oak Creek. Steamboat Man At Bombing Of Midway Island - Hiram Parker Was Injured By Shrapnel
J. Hiram Parker spent a couple of days in Steamboat Springs last week looking after business matters. He has had some great experiences since leaving here nearly two years ago. He was a civilian employee doing carpenter work at Midway Island when the Japs made their surprise attack. Bursting bombs awakened him one night and as he hurriedly made his way toward a place of safety he was struck by shrapnel, one piece striking him in the head, another in the leg. He was seven weeks in a hospital and underwent a dangerous surgical operation. He was shipped back to the United States and saw the wreckage at Pearl Harbor before many repairs were made. On the way back there were U-boat alarms, but what the passengers thought was a submarine tuned out to be a whale. Mr. Parker is now located at Yreka, Calif., and is recovering slowly from his harrowing experiences. Published in Steamboat Pilot, February 25, 1943.

News has been received of the death of Joseph Hiram Parker, which occurred April 9 in a San Francisco hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held April 10. Mrs. Caroline Parker and Mr. and Mrs. John Parker of Denver were among those attending the funeral.
Hiram Parker was an old timer in Routt county, having lived at Oak Creek and Steamboat Springs and was a homesteader in Twentymile park. At the time of his death he was the owner of a curio and antique shop in San Francisco. Surviving children are Joseph Hiram Parker Jr. of Aberdeen, Wash., John Philip Parker of Denver, Elizabeth Ann Brown and Stephen William Parker of Norman, Okla., and several grandchildren. Published in Steamboat Pilot, April 22, 1948.

The Oak Creek cemetery directory and the Routt County Burial index are also both created by volunteers. It is possible that two different Sarah Parker's are buried in Oak Creek. But only one listed in each source which might explain why the plot changed between the 2009 and 2014 Cemetery directories. Both 2009 and 2014 cemetery directories have no headstone indication, I found no headstone for a Sarah Parker when I took photographs in the cemetery. The cemetery directory has a indicator for obit on file see note below.
