Mrs. Myrtle U. "Maw Maw" Elser passed from this life on a Sunday morning at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas. Born in Lexington, Lee County, Texas, Mrs. Elser had been a lifetime resident of Galveston. She had been employed as a sales clerk for both J.C. Penney and Thrifty Discount Store for many years, loved to play bingo and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 880 in Galveston. Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, January 16, 2002, at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Terry Ray officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
