These 2 census are shown to show that William Rufus was born not in 1877 but perhaps in 1882. In the early 1900s Lovick Pierce Bellah started compiling a book about the family, he gathered information for many years, then World War II came along so he had to delay printing it until 1945; it is said that the cost was $1.00 and many could not afford to purchase one. In this book he lists Will's birthday as July 18, 1882 and I believe this is closer to correct than the 1877 date. In this book he also listed Lautisha as Lulu Leticia and Addison as Addison Phillip (Phillip being the name of Lautisha's father: Phillip Ray. While L. P.. Bellah certainly made some mistakes or was told some wrong information is certain, I believe the 1882 year of birth is more correct than 1877 or Will would have been listed on 1880 census. As for the names, without some other written records, we just have to conclude whatever the family thinks is correct.
