Hagerstown,MD- March 20 - William Gassman, 80 years old, chief Judge of the Washington county orphan's court died suddenly this afternoon. He was the son of George Gassman, a native of Germany, a prominent Democrat and a member of the Reformed Church and of several fraternal orders.

Citizen of Hagerstown Passes Away at Home of Daughter

Hagerstown,Md. March 20 - Judge William Gassman of the orphans' court died suddenly this evening while sitting in a chair at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Benchoff, Hagerstown. He was eighty years old and had been in poor health for some time.
Judge Gassman was serving his third term of four years each as a member of the orphans' court having been chief judge for the past seven years. For a half century he served as a member of the consistory of Zion Reformed Church. He was a prominent Odd Fellow and is survived by two daughters.
