Simon Brooks attended the public schools in West Springfield.Later he studied at Westfield Academy.At age of 21 he became a post office clerk.In 1877 he went to Holyoke to be a book keeper for Whiting Paper Co.He stayed with them until 1886.In 1886 he was elected Sheriff of Hampden County.After some time ,he entered the coal and wood business.On July 8,1861,he married Ruby L.Pomeroy.
