Second Baum Child Dies of Injuries

Services Tuesday for Father, Sister

Jack Baum, 10, of 1207 S. Main-st, became the third member of the Lima family to die of injuries suffered Saturday in a two-car collision near Bucyrus.

The boy died in Bucyrus City hospital at 11:15 a.m. Monday of a fractured skull. His father, Kenneth E., 34, and sister, Irma Fay, 3 1/2, and two Marines were killed in the accident.

News of his death came shortly after funeral arrangements were completed for the elder Baum and daughter. Arrangements are incomplete for third victim. The Rev. E. J. Penhorwood will officiate and burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

Meanwhile, the condition of Mrs. Martha Baum, 30, widow of Kenneth and mother of the two dead children, and another son, Wayne, 9, remained critical. Condition of Salvatore Dagostino, 60, stepfather of Mrs. Baum, was reported slightly improved.

Pallbearers for Baum will be Harry Sellers, Harold Perry, Carroll Yoakam, R. F. Rauser, W. M. Roe and Warren Guthrie. Pallbearers for Irma Fay will be David Deacon, Russell and Dan Bradford and Hazen Deckrosh.

Also killed in the crash were Marine Sgt. William J. Houck, 23, Holgate, Cpl. Lea McTurnan, 24, Parker, Ind., occupants of the second car involved. Services for Sgt. Houck have been arranged for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic church, Holgate, with burial in the church cemetery. Cpl. McTurnan's body has been returned to Indiana for burial.
