P. Edwina Wilkerson, age 84, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Loyalton Assisted Living in Hagerstown, Md.
Born Aug. 15, 1924, in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edwin Wallace and Mary Gertrude Booth Murray and the widow of Lloyd Wheeler Wilkerson, who died May 12, 2009.
She was a graduate of Hancock High School.
Prior to being a homemaker, she was employed at the Naval Powder Factory in Indian Head, Md., as a mathematical statistician.
She was a member of the Grace Chapter 21 and Past Guardian International Order of Jobs Daughters, Bethel 24, both of Indian Head.
She was Past Worthy Grand Matron of OES State of Maryland.
She was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Lynnea W. Richards and husband Joe of Hagerstown; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Clamonce Wilkerson, Mary Louise Martin, Betty Sheeder and Gwendolyn Yost; and one brother, Edwin "Bud" Murray.
A service will be held Tuesday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at the Hancock United Methodist Church. The Rev. William E. Merki will officiate. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Monday evening 7 to 9 p.m., where there will be a service by the Order of the Eastern Star at 8 p.m.
