Rockland -- Viola Rosa Hymas Brown, at age 79, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2009, at the Power County Nursing Home in American Falls.
She was born on July 17, 1929 to Milford and Charlotte Hymas in Plano, ID. She was the seventh child out of nine.
Viola married her eternal companion, Dale B. Brown, on June 29, 1951 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Dale and Viola started their life together in Salmon, ID. They were blessed with four children. The family moved to Rockland in 1968, where Dale and Viola continued raising their family. Viola worked at Lamb Weston in American Falls for many years. They loved living in Rockland, until failing health required both of them to enjoy the comforts of the Power County Nursing Home.
Viola was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including the special calling of a Primary teacher. She had a love for her family and friends, a love for her Savior, and a love for earthly passions of flowers and crocheting.
Viola is survived by: her husband, Dale Boyce Brown; her children, Rosa Diane (Martin) Reaves of Rockland, Cindy May (James) McLean of Rockland, Dale Boice (Vicki) Brown of Roy, UT, and Myrtle Charlotte (Thomas) Waddoups of American Falls; her 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Bert Hymas; one sister, Lottie Roberts; and many extended family members and dear friends. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, five brothers, and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rockland Ward, in Rockland. A viewing will be held Friday, March 6, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Davis–Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho St., American Falls. A viewing will also be held one hour prior to the funeral services in Rockland.
