Edward Putnam died on April 15, 1901 at his home, three miles northwest of Windsor. His age was 76y 4m. He was born near Buffalo, NY in Dec 1824 and, when 12 years of age, moved with his parents to Lake Co., IL where he was first married. To this union was born a son, who was killed by the Indians years ago. After the death of his first wife, Mr. Putnam came to Shelby county and was married to Nancy Bruce Goddard on 26 Feb 1873. They never had any children. The couple settled on the farm where he was living at the time of his death. The funeral services were held at the Sand Creek church and burial was in Sand Creek Cemetery.
