Rear Admiral Caspar Frederick Goodrich was born in 7 January 1847. He served in the US Navy from 1861 to 1909 and died at Princeton, New Jersey, on 26 December 1925. USS Goodrich (DD/DDR-831), 1945-1977, was named in honor of Rear Admiral Goodrich, and of his son, Lieutenant Caspar F. Goodrich (1881-1907), who lost his life in a gun turret explosion on board USS Georgia on 15 July 1907. RAdm Caspar Goodrich was married twice. First time (in 1873) to Eleanor Milnor and the second time to Sarah M. Hayes. Also, Admiral Goodrich had two daughters.
