Chico Daily Record, Thursday Morning, January 18, 1900, pg 1 col 4: Mrs. Mary Shear Dead. Mrs. Mary Shear, an old resident of Butte county, having resided in Chico for many years previous to her removal to Oakland, died in the latter city on Tuesday. The remains will be brought here for interment. Mrs. Shear was a sister of Julian Burroughs, and the funeral will take place from his residence corner Main and Sixth streets, tomorrow at 2 p.m.
