He was born Dec. 9, 1926, in Ironwood, son of the late Louis and Florence (Bartlett) Jacquart, and graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1944. He then entered the U.S. Navy, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II, and was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class in 1946. Because of his love of flying, David joined the U.S. Air Force and then the U.S. Army, working in aircraft maintenance and flying helicopters in Vietnam. He retired in 1966 as a Chief Warrant Officer and was awarded the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf clusters and the Bronze Star for service in Vietnam. Prior to returning to Ironwood, David resided in Greybull, Wyo., where he maintained aircraft that were used to fight forest fires. He was the chief of fixed wing maintenance for Hawkins and Powers Aviation. In Ironwood, he was the manager of the Gogebic County Airport.

David was a Fourth Degree member and past Grand Knight of the Greybull Knights of Columbus Council, a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and a member of the Ironwood American Legion Post 5. His hobbies included tinkering with anything mechanical and working on computers.
