Deweyville – Our beloved Judith Lucy Keyes Mason peacefully passed away September 14, 2010 at her home in Deweyville, Utah, after a valiant fight with cancer. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.

She was born August 15, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wilford Burns and Lucy Halliday Vance Keyes. She was reared and educated in Kaysville and Ogden, Utah, then continued her education in Hamilton, New Zealand while her father served a work mission building the New Zealand Temple.

She attended BYU, Weber State and graduated from Utah State University in Elementary Education in June of 1987. She worked as the secretary at Honeyville Elementary and then taught 2nd grade at Honeyville and Bear River Elementary Schools until her retirement.

She was previously married to J. Michael Oborn. She married Roger Naef Mason June 1, 1970 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Her hobbies included sewing, scrapbooking, reading, and playing the violin, organ and piano. She found great joy in accompanying a special presentation of "My Name Is Emma" for 13 years. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her family and 19 grandchildren.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Riverview Ward. She held and served in many callings including relief society presidencies, ward and stake primary president, ward organist, pianist, young women teacher and Sunday School teacher.

She served with her husband, Roger, in the Canada Toronto East Mission and the Salt Lake Temple Square Conference Center Mission.

She is survived by her husband, Roger; their six children, Shaun M. Oborn (Lorna), of Nibley, Utah, David B. Mason (Carri), of Mesa, Arizona, Scott S. Mason (Stephanie), of Tremonton, Utah, Moana M. Johnson (Matthew), of Lehi, Utah, William W. Mason (Jennifer), of Providence, Utah, and Melanie M. Mason, of Deweyville; 19 grandchildren; brothers, Richard Keyes (Betty), of West Valley City, Utah and Robert Keyes (Marilyn), of Pleasant View, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and William Keyes.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 11:00 a.m. at the Riverview Ward LDS Chapel 10750 North Highway 38, Deweyville, UT. Friends may call Friday, September 17, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, UT and Saturday from 9:15 – 10:40 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral services. Interment will follow in the Deweyville Cemetery.
