NOTE: Her first name is found spelled many different ways, including Alithea, Alethea, Althea, Althear, Elethear and perhaps others. She was a widow, who died in her 73rd year.

She was likely related to Benjamin Comstock, who married Sarah Rice in 1782 at Charlemont. She is possibly the mother of Elthear Comstock Coleman, buried in Buckland,MA.

She is very likely the Alethea Bliss who married Joseph Comstock. Joseph was born on Aug 18,1725 at New London,CT, a son of Kingsland Comstock Jr and Rachel (Crocker) Comstock. He died before Mar 16,1763 when his wife Alethea was given bond as administratrix of his estate. Alethea was a daughter of Pelatiah Bliss (1697-1763) and his first wife, Sarah (Harris) Bliss. (Source: A Comstock Genealogy: Descendants of William Comstock of New London, Conn., who Died After 1662: Ten Generations (1907), page 52.)

She was one of the ten children (one son and nine daughters) of Pelatiah Bliss. She is called Alithea in her father's will and probate, and is his only child with a known grave marker.

She signed the administrator’s bond for settlement of her husband Joseph Comstock’s estate on 17 Mar 1763 as Althear Comstock, but her name in the bond document is Alithea Comstock. New London Probate file no. 1427 (1763) (Connecticut, Wills and Probate Records, 1609-1999 - Hartford - Probate Packets, Comstock, Daniel-Copp, C, 1675-1850).
