" ... Mr. Barham was married November 25, 1875, to Miss Georgia Holcomb, a native of St. Louis, California. They have one child, Courtney, born in Chico..." "Georgette's biological father was Rufus Milliken Swett; common law husband of Charlotte Desire Holcomb. Her great-granddaughter Emma Barham Callaghan, refers to her as Georgette Swett in the book: The Road Through Rabbit Creek published in 1999. Chico Record (Chico, California) 17 Aug 1934, Friday Page 3: Mrs. G.A. Barham Dies In Oakland. Mrs. Georgette Adell Barham, one of the early pioneer settlers of Chico and widow of the late James L. Barham, died yesterday morning at her home in Oakland, after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Barham and her husband left Chico more than 40 years ago, after residing here for approximately 25 years. After leaving Chico Mrs. Barham moved to Red Bluff with her husband, who for 12 years was assessor there. From Red Bluff they moved to Manton, where Barham operated a store. Later they went to Oakland.

Barham was a retired Emeryville banker at the time of his death about six years ago. Since then his widow had resided in Oakland. Mrs. Barham was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Survivors are a son, Courtney L. Barham, and two granddaughters, Emma and Janet Barham, all of Oakland.

The body will arrive in Chico Sunday night and funeral arrangements will be announced by the H.C. Bicknell Funeral Home.
