Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley. Pastor Betty Delgado will officiate. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday with an American Legion service at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
Mr. Blum was born Nov. 3, 1916, in Waverly, Iowa to Carl P. and Pearl (Phelps) Blum. He married Anastacia Kassul on March 31, 1940, in St. Anne's Rectory, Spring Valley.
He served in World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a carpenter, contractor and owner of Blum Home Improvements in Spring Valley until retiring. He was a member of the Spring Valley American Legion, the Spring Valley Walleye Club, Illinois Valley Flyers Club, Carpenters Union 195 and was an adult leader in Boy Scout Troop 33 in Spring Valley for many years. He served of the Hall High School board of education.
Survivors include one daughter, Eileen (Jon) Parks of Elgin; three sons, Carl Lyle (Jeanette) Blum of Temple City, CA, Ken (Nancy) Blum of Lorraine and Les (Erin) Blum of Grafton, WI; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Bob Blum of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Bill (Alicia) Blum of San Jose, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 24, 2006; one sister; and one brother.
