Mrs. Duke was born on March 5, 1919, in Turney, Mo., and had been a resident of Savannah and St Joseph for most of her life. She was employed with Wyeth Hardware in St Joseph as an order filler and elevator operator, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of the Woodson Chapel Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post #359, Eagles Lodge Auxiliary #49, all of St Joseph, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Gordon, Otis Weiss and John W. Duke. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Bessie (Kidwell) Hatcher; two brothers, Isaac and Frank Hatcher; four sisters, Beulah Mae Hatcher, Ruth Barnhart, Nellie Weaver and Bea Potter; and one grandson, Timothy Greenlee.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice Dandeneau of Charleston, S. Car., and Annabell Allen of Liberty, Mo.; one son, Vincent Weiss of St Joseph, Mo.; three brothers, James E. Hatcher of St Joseph, Mo., Jewell Hatcher of Stanberry, Mo., and Bobby Hatcher of Richmond, Mo.; one sister, Juanita Burnside of Edwardsville, Kan.; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and Marita Dilley who was a special friend for 53 years.
Services were 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, St Joseph." Savannah Reporter and Andrew County Democrat (Savannah, Missouri), April 12, 2001
