Reuben Bruce was the son of Jotham and Meriam (Newton) Bruce. He married 1st, Lois Pike. Their children were Rufus and Anne, twins, b.1775, Lawson. b. 1777, Sarah, b. 1778, Sally b. 1779, Lois, b. 1782, Sophia, Isaac, 1789, and John, b. 1791. In 1808, he married Lucy Rice. They had 2 children, Hezekiah, and Lucy.
Reuben served in the Revolution. In 1833, pensions records say that he had resided at Sheldon for 25 years.
