Bonnie Lou (McEwin) Nowlin went to be with her Lord Sunday, September 12th, 2010. She passed away peacefully at her home in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dane Robinson and Bill Robinson officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Robinson, Honorary bearers will be Meredith Robinson, Charles Leewright, Mark Brannon, Philip Bennett, Larry D. McEwin, Les McEwin, Max Pace and Ricky Terry. Burial will follow at Holdenville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home. Bonnie accepted Christ as her Savior when she was a young girl at Spring Creek Freewill Baptist Church at a revivial meeting. She joined the Church of the Nazarene in 1953 in Holdenville and has been a member for 57 years. Bonnie was born to Joe E. McEwin and Reatha (Lucas) McEwin on November 20, 1931 in Hughes County. Bonnie has been a Hughes County resident all but six months of her life. SHe attended Calvin Public School. Bonnie graduated from Beauty College in 1949. Bonnie and Orville H. "Shorty" Nowlin were married in 1949 and celebrated their 61st anniversary in 2010. She attained an Associate in Arts Degree in 1985 at Seminole Junior College. Bonnie owned and operated Bonnie's Beauty Shop in Holdenville for 44 years, and retiring in 2005. She enjoyed spending time with reading, sewing, family, grandchildren, cooking for family gatherings on Thanksgiving and Christmas and to have quail feeds for friends and family. She enjoyed playing dominoes with the girls on Monday nights and working with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen L. Bennedtt and Betty J. Kay and one brother, Doyle E. McEwin.
