David, a railway worker of National Avenue, Kingston-upon-Hull, Yorkshire, was born in Darlington, the son of Jonathan and Elizabeth Ann Birkbeck (nee Milner) and was the husband of Olive Dunn Birkbeck (nee Dewson)
David served in France in WW1 as Sgt 201275 Tank Corps and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM). Sadly in WW2 David and his daughter Ada Brenda perished as a result of an enemy air attack at their home.
At the time of his passing David, an air raid warden was 50 years of age.
