Obituary from New Milford Times dated May 26, 1983:

"Funeral services for Alan R. Chappuis, 53,360 Litchfield Road, New Milford, who died last Thursday after being stricken at a meeting of the planning commission, were held Sunday at 2PM at the First Congregational Church, New Milford with the Rev. A. Russell Ayre officiating. Burial was in Northville Cemetery.
Mr. Chappius was born Dec. 14, 1939 in Washington,CT the son of Jennie (Monroe) Chappius and the late Charles M. Chappius. He was a 1947 graduate of New Milford High School where he was a member of the schools baseball team. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Chappius was a partner in Sega Ready Mix, New Milford, a council member, and was an organizer, charter member and past chief of the Northville Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the building committee that built the Northville Elementary School and was a member of the New Milford Parks and Recreation Commission. Mr.Chappius also was a member of the advisory board of the New Milford Bank and Trust Co. and an incorporator of the New Milford Savings Bank.

He was a member of the Ezra Woods Post of the American Legion, the Andrew W. Mygatt Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the First Congregational Church.
He is survived by his mother of Warren; his wife, Barbara(Adams)Chappius of New Milford; one son, Raymond L. Chappius of New Milford, one daughter, Sharon A. Chappius of New Milford; two brothers, George and Gordon Chappius of Warren; two sisters, Mrs. June Whitehead of Washington, CT and Mrs. Linda Stickels of Freevlle, NY, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Northville Volunteer Fire department.
The Lillis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements."
