Rites Held for Chas. Ailshie
Charles Crawford Ailshie a life-long resident of this vicinity, died Saturday at his home in Sargent following an illness of nearly a year. He would have been 57 today. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Methodist church with Rev. Staley Hackley, pastor, and Rev. Merle A. Zook, Omaha, a former minister here, officiating.
Robert Brown sang, accompa­nied by Dorothy Pointer. Pall­bearers were Roy Gibson, Frank Ruzicka, Ernest Kotre, George Jensen, Oscar Benson and Glenn Poland.
Graveside services were con­ducted by members of the IOOF lodge. Spooner-Rhoad - Funeral Home was in charge of arrange­ments, ' A son of Benjamin and Mary Ailshie, he was born in Sargent Nov. 5, 1902. He attended rural schools near here and at the Sargent high school. On December 21, 1927 he was married to Lois Fern Turner at Glenwood, Iowa. Two daughters and one son were born to the couple. Following their marriage they lived at Arcadia and Mason City until 1931 Sargent where they had since made their home. Mr. Ailshie was an active member of the Methodist church serving as a member of the board for 22 years. He was also lay leader and usher. He was an active member and Past Grand of the Odd Fellows. For 14 year.; he served as secretary of the Zion Hill school board. He was also a close fol­lower of high school sports.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ail­shie; two daughters, Mrs. Anita Hoffman and Mary Joan Ailshie, Omaha; a son Elwyn E. Council Bluffs, Iowa. A sister Mrs. Lois Hostrum, Lemon Grove, California and five grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a sister, two brothers and one grandson.
