Max A. Fischer of Freeland, Michigan. Age 87, died March 10, 2010 at Covenant HealthCare Harrison.

The son of the late Herman and Augusta Fischer, Max was born August 11, 1922 in Thomas Township.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the European Theater of Operations. He married Beatrice Stall on December 4, 1948 and she preceded him in death on November 5, 2005.

Mr. Fischer was employed by Walter P. Davis Wholesale Grocer, then with Wolfgram Excavating Co., and later with St. Francis Nursing Home prior to retirement. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Usher for many years, and a member of the Hemlock - Merrill V.F.W. Post.

Surviving were two daughters, Linda (Larry) Little of Houghton Lake and Nancy (Dean) Royal of Hemlock; five grandchildren, Julie (Jeff) Gaberdiel, Benjamin Little, Ryan (Summer) Little, Morgan and Marshall Royal; four great - grandchildren, Emilie, Alexandra, and Colton Gaberdiel, and Tyler Rawlings; and several nieces and nephews.
