Dennis Dalton (Tiny) Condron, 51 police chief of Kingsville and a Chief Deputy Sheriff of Nueces County, died October 20, 1959, of a heart attack at 2:30 A.M. at the Kingsville, Texas Hospital.
He became Kingsville Police Chief in September, 1956. He was a farmer in the Bishop area for almost 30 years. Before taking the Kingsville post, he was Chief Deputy Sheriff for Nueces Co. under Odem Bolan for 18 months. He stepped down from that post to become a deputy in Bishop. Before becoming a deputy, he was constable of Bishop for 8 years.
He was born Dec. 22, 1908 in Elgin, Bastrop Co., the son of Grover Cleveland Condron and Lula Mabel Straus. He
married Emma Mae Belle Condron of Elgin in 1923. They moved to Bishop in 1929. He farmed 1 1/2 miles northeast of Bishop. He served as a member of the board of stewards at the First Methodist Church of Bishop. He was a past master of the Bishop Masonic Lodge, a member of the Kingsville Lions Club and the Kingsville Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife Mae Condron of Kingsville, his daughter, Mrs. Robert Hughson of Agua Dulce, two grandchildren, Nancy and Dan Hughson, his stepmother, Mrs. Grover Cleveland Condron of Elgin, brother, Oscar T. Condron of Corpus Christ; his sisters, Mrs. Hugh Nance of Big Spring, Mrs. Raymond Johnson of Elgin, and Mrs. James T. Jennings of Austin.
The Bishop Masonic Lodge will conduct graveside services at the Bishop Cemetery.
Members of the Kingsville Police Department will act as pallbearers. City officials and employees will act as honorary pallbearers.
