Sheldon R. Kimball, 88, of Owego, N.Y., passed away on Monday, December 20, 2004, at Tioga Nursing Facilities, Waverly, N.Y. He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma Kimball; and his sister, Cecil Benjamin. Sheldon is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and David Fall, Seattle, Wash., Sheila and Ron Shirley, Owego; his son and daughter-in-law, James Sr. and Deborah Kimball, Herndon, Va.; his grandchildren, Renee, Scott, Christina, Kelly, Teriece, Susan, Timothy and James Jr.; his 12 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mabel Howard, Endicott, N.Y., Helen Grier, Waverly; and his several nieces and nephews. He was born in Endicott, N.Y. on September 15, 1916, the son of the late John and Edna (Cornell) Kimball. Sheldon worked for IBM Owego as a processing engineer, focusing on several of the Apollo and space shuttle mission projects. He retired after 30 years of service.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main St., Owego, N.Y. on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John Topolewski, pastor officiating. Those wishing are asked to direct memorial contributions in memory of Sheldon to the American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760. Arrangements are with Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17c West, Owego, N.Y
