In 1910 she and her parents and six siblings--all but Margaret and Henry--lived on a farm they were renting in Ward 2 in Monongahela, PA. Clarence worked as a teamster in an axle works, Laken as a blacksmith in a blacksmith shop, Harry as a teamster in a planing mill, and Wilson as a laborer in a machine shop.

In 1920 she and her parents lived in a house they owned, mortgage free, at 101 Third Avenue in Monongahela. Her father worked as a laborer at an iron works.

In 1930 she and her husband and their daughter lived with his mother in the hotel she owned at 109 East Main Street in Monongahela. Their home was valued at $50,000 and they did not have a radio. He worked as a printer in a printing office.

In 1940 she and Francis and their two children lived in a house they were renting for $18 a month at 408 Second Street in Monongahela.
