Glenn A. Parmenter served as a Specialist 2nd Class in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.

He was a son of William Oris Parmenter and Ida Bell (Rhinhart) Parmenter.

He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard on November 20, 1942.

He received his discharge from the Coast Guard on August 15, 1945.

After the war, he worked as a City Fireman in Decatur, Illinois and resided there. He rose to the rank of Captain in the Fire Department in Decatur.

He was originally from the State of Illinois.

His last place of residence was at Hot Springs National Park, Garland, Arkansas.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on May 12, 1982.
