Rayford Gandy, 80, a native of Mexia, a former resident of Atmore and a resident of Bay Minette for the past six years, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010.
He was a former owner of Gandy Oil Company and attended the First United Methodist Church of Bay Minette.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Myrtise Bayles Gandy of Bay Minette; daughter, Cheryl Gandy Mothershed of Bay Minette; two grandchildren, Hannah Steadham McMurphy and Anna Lois McMurphy; sister, Pearl Bailey of Frisco City; and a nephew, Dr. Roy Gandy of Atmore.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Bay Minette with the Rev. Jeffrey Spicer and the Rev. Randy Byrd officiating. Burial followed at Bay Minette Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mitch Bayles, Bob Jones, Owen Lyles, Donnie Payne, Buddy Yarbrough, Billy Stroud and Dr. Roy Gandy. Honorary pallbearers were Dody Rhodes, Joe Hend, Terry Yoas, Don Petty, Rickey Rhodes and Jim Barrow.
Arrangements were made by Petty Funeral Homes LLC. Eastside Chapel, Atmore.
