Railroad Worker. Son of Adam and Sarah (Longstreth) Weller. Married Mary Gruesilla Clingan on 7 Sep 1882 in Madison County, OH. Father of Edgar Guy b. 10 Nov 1883, Flora Hellen b. 26 Sep 1885 and Charles Thaddeus DeWitt b. 19 Nov 1888.

From the Urbana Daily Democrat, June 30, 1923:
"Franklin P. Weller, known to every trainman on the Indianapolis division of the Pennsylvania Railroad company as one of the most reliable car inspectors along the line, has chalked up his last car. For forty years he has been a railroad man, and for the last 30 years he has been a car inspector for the
Pennsylvania. For many years he has been stationed in the Urbana yards. Now at the age of 70 years he has been retired and placed on the pension list.
The retirement became effective Thursday and the passing from active duty of this veteran in the railroad service was commemorated by his fellow employes, and a committee from the Bradford shops, headed by A. J. Hoffert, foreman of the car department at Bradford, who called on Mr. Weller and presented him with a handsome leather traveling bag, filled with his favorite brand of tobacco and cigars, as a token of respect and sincerity in wishing him good luck and good health in his retirement.
The highest tribute that can be paid to any workman was paid Mr. Weller by his foreman, Mr. Hoffert, who said that in all his years of service his employers have never had occasion to discipline Mr. Weller, but that there had been many occasions on which his work merited commendation.
Mr. Weller began his railroad career in 1871 with the predecessors of the D. T. & I., and in 1881, became a car inspector for the Pennsylvania.
Mr. Weller will spend a greater part of his retired life in and around Urbana. In August he expects to visit a sister in Nebraska."


F. P. WELLER, 86, DIES AT HOME OF HIS SON HERE
Franklin Pierce Weller, 86, died at the home of a son, DeWitt Weller, south of Urbana at 2 a.m. Wednesday. Death was due to infirmaties.
Mr. Weller was born in Morgan County, Ohio on June 10, 1853, and lived in this vicinity for 56 years. At the time of his death, he was a retired inspector for the Pennsylvania Railroad, with which he was employed many years.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Dalby, Arcadia, Nebraska; two sons, DeWitt and Edgar G. Weller; a daughter, Miss Flora H. Weller, Urbana; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Humphreys and Son Co. Funeral Home, with the Rev. R. J. Turrell, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be made in Oak Dale Cemetery.
The body was to be returned from the funeral home to the DeWitt Weller home this afternoon, where friends may call.
