S. Jean Kester, 88, of 722 Main St., Rural Valley died Thursday, May 21, 1998 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin Township. She was born March 12, 1910 in West Kittanning Borough to William and Sadie (Taylor) Myers. Mrs. Kester was a retired practical nurse. She was a member of the Salem (Hills) United Church of Christ, Kittanning RD 5. She was a member of the Blanco Grange. She was a member of the Cosgrove Post 523 of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rural Valley. She is survived by three sons, Ronald Myers of Delmont, James Kester of Indiana and John Kester of Reynoldsville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Isabelle Lasher of Kittanning RD 5; seven step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Edward Kester, who died on May 15, 1974; one brother, Carol; two sisters, Grace Pore and Mary Dailey; and one grandson, John Kester. KESTER - Friends of S. Jean Kester, 88, of 722 Main St., Rural Valley, who died May 21, 1998, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Boyer Funeral Home, 724 Main St., Rural Valley, where a Grange service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held at Salem (Hills) United Church of Christ, Kittanning RD 5, at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Revs, Randall Forester and William N. Headley, co-officiating. Interment will take place in the Salem (Hills) United Church of Christ Cemetery.
