Mr. Ralph White Burdett, 83, of Sharpsburg died Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at Newnan Hospital. Mr. Burdett was born August 2, 1920, in Franklin, Gerogia, to Homer E. and Lemma Chappelear Burdett. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Morton Burdett. Mr. Burdett was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and attended Cascade Methodist Church in Atlanta and Sharpsburg Baptist Church for many years. He was a member of Cascade Lodge in Atlanta and East Point Lodge #288 and the V.F.W. in Newnan. He served with the 57th Naval Construction Battalion, United States Navy, from 1942-45. He was employed for over thiry years by MacDougald/APAC Construction Company in Atlanta. Survivors include his daughter, Judith B. Conklin and friend, Ellis Grubbs of Sharpsburg, Kyle and Jessica Grubbs of Shiloh and Stephen, Jill, Gavin, and Addison Grubbs of Coral Springs, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral will be on Friday, August 15 at the Burdett Family Cemetery in Franklin, Georgia. Friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan.
