Robert Pierce Rites Today at 10:30 -

Funeral services for Robert William Pierce, 68, Tipton, will be held today (June 27) at 10:30 a.m. at Sheets and Son Funeral Home in Tipton, with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Pallbearers are Lewis McQuillen, Leo Ford, Doug Ford, Marlin Christian, Bill Christian and Bill Coiner. Mrs. Sylvia Gould is the organist and Gene and Betty Todd are in charge of flowers. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery, with full military rites.
Mr. Pierce died June 25 at his home following and extended illness.
He was born Aug. 26, 1916 in Urbana to Walter and Hazel Hepner Pierce. He married Margaret Morgan June 18, 1942 in Tipton. He was a life resident of the Tipton community and attended the Tipton schools.
Mr. Pierce was retired and was a former employee of Thatcher Glass in Muscatine and Louis Rich in West Liberty. He was a member of the Marines, serving as a private in WW II, from Aug. 9, 1940 to Dec. 15, 1941. He was a member of the Cedar River Marine Detachment.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Deanna) Gritton, Tipton; 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
