LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 4— Former Mayor William B. Stansbury, 62 years old, and his mother, Eileen, 84, were killed Thursday night when they were struck by a car while on their way to church, the authorities said. Mr. Stansbury's wife Mary Ellen, 46, was injured.
Mr. Stansbury, a Democrat, served as Mayor from 1977 until 1982, after serving two terms as an alderman. He was widely criticized for his actions in a firefighters' strike in 1978 and a year later was the object of an impeachment effort arising out of an intraparty feud. After leaving office, Mr. Stansbury, who was an Army Air Corps pilot in World War II,
returned to the practice of law.
