"Cyrus Blatt is known to have taken photographs in Bernville as early as 1870, for in April of that year he paid $6. for the privilege of keeping his Photo Salon (actually a photographic wagon) parked on the southeast corner of 4th and Main Streets. At this same time according to his obituary, he began his forty-five year tenure as a rural correspondent to the Reading Daily Eagle. As a young man, he taught the Freeman School in Centre Township, located about 1 3/4 miles east of Belleman's Church...He built a large residence on the northeast corner of 5th and Main from which he operated his business. Blatt died on January 7, 1915 at the age of 73. His output was enormous and the quality ranged from good to excellent."
