Dwain Alan Dodson, age 56 of Valparaiso, IN passed away after a short battle with cancer on September 9, 2010.
Preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lovetta Dodson of Abilene, TX.
Beloved husband of 33 years to Dana Humble Dodson who survives along with a wonderful family of five children: Megan Grace (Dodson) Mason of Chicago, Peter Franc Dodson of Chicago, James Austin Dodson of San Antonio, TX, Caleb Andrew Dodson of Laramie, WY and Samuel Scott Dodson who attends the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
Additionally, daughter-in-law Elaine Gerzen Dodson of San Antonio and son-in-law Andrew Mason of Chicago.
Also survived by dearest sister, Cathy Dodson Richardson of Big Spring, TX along with her husband Jack and daughter Annette. Numerous surviving uncles, aunts and cousins reside in Texas.
Dodson was a chemical engineer throughout his working career. Having earned a Master of Science in 1977 at the University of Texas-Austin he immediately joined Dow Chemical at their Freeport, Texas location and continuing there over the next 20 years. In 1996, Dodson made a career change that led him first to Illinois and then additional energy companies across the Midwest. Dodson was firmly committed to his family and his career and will be sorely missed.
Through his travels as an engineer, Dodson developed a hobby in travel and pursued a lengthy "bucket list" of destinations. Dodson also developed an interest of history, aviation and participating in family interests.
Internment will be at Elmwood Memorial Service in Abilene, TX near other family members with a graveside service on September 25, 2010.
